Rokukyu

This morning I spent a couple of hours, and a great deal of energy grading to yellow belt. I think kyoshi Doug actually gave us less push-ups than jun-shihan Ben did at my last grading, but never mind: with two kyoshi grading us there's a good chance one of them is going to be kyoshi Peter who had us sit in boat position for a good five minutes. By the end of that I could nearly say that push-ups are for people too soft to sit in boat position!
After this I had lunch at the Bordeaux bakery across the road and was back at the dojo for kata class with sensei Rob. I now know firsthand that pinan sono ni kata is slightly more confusing than integral calculus but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Seido sono ni is a bit tricky too.
